The Garwood Foundation is the proprietor of Rutherford School, a specialist independent school for children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities aged 3-19. Their aim is to provide inclusive education to learners whose very special needs are compounded by a high degree of dependency. The school’s holistic approach facilitates learning that is supported and managed by a specialist range of therapies which address physical disabilities, sensory impairments and complex medical needs. In July 2015 the school was judged to be Outstanding following an Ofsted inspection, retaining the status it had gained in January 2012 regardless of the tightening of the national inspection regime.
