Having worked with people of varying disabilities for many years, The Garwood Foundation are a fantastic charity that resonate a lot with me. They are a hard-working charity supporting and empowering people with disabilities of all backgrounds, to maximise their quality of life and to maintain and develop new skills.

Your donations will help the charity immensely as they are currently fundraising for a hydrotherapy pool and as they strive towards their mission: to promote the care, welfare, interest, treatment and advancement of education of adults and children having cerebral palsy and other profound, multiple, acquired or other disabilities, particularly those living in the London Boroughs of Croydon, Sutton and Bromley.

I am absolutely determined to complete the London Marathon for this wonderful charity, and because of your support, I know I will definitely do it.

Thank you in advance for any help towards this.

Just a guy raising funds for special students. I have in a variety of capacities worked with students with special needs for a very long time, I have also been doing a variety of sports for a very long time, I have combined my two passions to make a significant difference to students lives. Acheeva learning stations is one of our most used pieces of equipment. It allows students to continue education despite not being in their normal wheelchair. A chance for students to maintain comfort whilst still being able to access learning. It goes without saying that all our students would greatly benefit from being able to access an Acheeva learning station throughout their school day, but being a small charity, we have not been able to afford Acheeva learning stations for all students. I therefore made the decision when I joined Rutherford School that I would start fundraising to get 5 new learning stations. I really hope that you will support me on the journey of running to raise funds for all the students at Rutherford, and the equipment to keep them comfortable in their learning.

I started running three years ago with my daughter at Lloyd junior parkrun back in April 2019. Running the London Marathon has always been a dream for me and I am hugely grateful to The Garwood Foundations for the opportunity.

I am motivated by The Garwood Foundation’s mission for adults and young people in their care. As an active member of the local community, I have been given the opportunity to raise money for and champion a charity that supports young people in my local area.
Though my life and career I have seen the amazing work of social care staff and appreciate the opportunity of also highlighting their roles at The Garwood Foundation.

I worked for the Care Quality Commission for 4 years, managing the financial oversight of large social care providers which included a number of learning disability charities. I got to see and understand the great work done by providers in the sector to enrich the lives of the individuals they care for and support. Now at EY, I use this sector specialism to work with clients in the health and social care; local government; and regulatory sectors.

EY will be ‘match funding’ the first £500 I raise – so also a big thank you to them.

And a bit about me…
I am married to Sarah and two children, Alexa and Bradley. I have lived in Croydon for almost ten years. I am a committee member of the Friends of Croham Hurst Woods, I am a Governor at Ridgeway Primary School, I attend Emmanuel Church in South Croydon and I volunteer regularly at junior parkrun in Lloyd Park.

If you fancy one of the prestigious spots at the London Marathon on Sunday, 2nd October 2022? Want to support a Croydon-based charity that supports people with disabilities?

I really admire all the work that the Garwood Foundation carries out for the children and families of those with severe disabilities. Having worked with Local Authorities and private organisations in recruiting for social work staff, I would love to be able to give back to such a worthy organisation. I really enjoy fundraising, especially with my 8 year old daughter who loves organising a bake sale! My fiancée is also a children’s nurse which gives me an insight into children living with disabilities and how any support is greatly appreciated and can make a real difference.

I have previously been a very regular runner however recently this has become less often so I am really looking forward to upping my training and getting the miles in!

I really admire the work that The Garwood Foundation carries out in aiding those with severe disabilities in leading a fulfilling and happy life through Day Centre events and residential care, as well as supporting their families. I am running the London Marathon to raise awareness of.

The Garwood Foundation across London and the wider community,

where the charity may not be as well known yet are carrying out fantastic services that would hugely benefit from fundraising. Your support, no matter how small or large has the power to help improve the lives of others.

I am running the London Marathon for The Garwood Foundation through Virgin Money Giving. This Charity is dear to me and I want to support their everyday help with the local children. I am very excited to run for the Garwood Foundation and I will do my best to get through the marathon. All funds raised will go to the Garwood Foundation. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
